September is a month brimming with music as the local arts scene explodes.  From sold-out House Concerts to the Fiesta on the Square in Summerville, Chamber Music Charleston has crafted numerous chamber music experiences to satisfy everyone’s tastes.  But the most eagerly anticipated concerts are the performances of the acclaimed Ovation Concert Series, taking place at in the majestic spaces of Sottile Theatres and St. Matthews Lutheran Church.

TANGO meets CLASSICAL

Sunday, September 29th at 3pm at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church

GRAMMY® Award winning guitarist Jason Vieaux and virtuoso violinist Francisco Fullana join musicians of CMC for a program of music celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month on September 29th at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church. Classical music merges with the sultry sounds of the tango as musicians perform Astor Piazzolla’s “L’histoire du Tango” and Luigi Boccherini’s fiery “Fandango” Guitar Quintet.

Sunday, November 3 at 3pm at College of Charleston Sottile Theatre

On November 3rd at the College of Charleston Sottile Theatre violinist Daniel Ching of the Miró Quartet and cellist Alan Rafferty of the Cincinnati Symphony join CMC violinist Frances Hsieh, violists Ben and Jenny Weiss, and cellist Timothy O’Malley for two masterworks of the string sextet repertoire: Arnold Schoenberg’s groundbreaking “Verklärte Nacht” and Johannes Brahms’ masterful String Sextet in G Major.
