About Weddings
While Chamber Music Charleston does not book professional musicians for weddings, we do offer the opportunity for clients to engage one of the CMC TWO student ensembles for such occasions. We understand that weddings are a once-in-a-lifetime event, and the bride, groom, family and friends expect everything to be perfect. Students are just that – students. They are still learning the nuances of being working musicians. In addition, student ensembles have a limited repertoire and may be unable to accommodate special requests. For those reasons, we encourage you to consider hiring a professional ensemble such as Charleston Flutist or Palmetto Strings if you have a logistially challenging event, or very special music requests. Both of these ensembles have had years of experience and frequently hire the core professional musicians of Chamber Music Charleston.
ABOUT CMC TWO
Members of CMC TWO (accomplished high school string students accepted into the program after a rigorous interview process) participate in weekly activities including self-guided rehearsals, coachings with professional musicians of CMC, masterclasses with guest artists, and advanced learning sessions.
For the 2021-2022 season, CMC TWO musicians will participate in three public performances: Nov. 19 at the West Ashley Theater Center, March 18 at College of Charleston Sottile Theatre and in June during the Piccolo Spoleto Festival. When a client engages a CMC TWO ensemble for a wedding, the ensemble will be coached by a professional musician of CMC to learn the required repertoire and the client will interact with CMC Director or Education Associate in the contracting of the event and selection of the music. An adult representative of CMC will be on site for the wedding to assist with the logistics for the event.
CMC TWO Wedding Rates
1-hour String Quartet Wedding Ceremony Music: Up to 1 hour of music, inlcuding seating music, prelude, postlude and post-wedding exit music: $800
1-hour of music for Reception or Cocktail Hour Music (when booked with wedding ceremony music): additional $600
1-hour Reception/Background Music event: $800
2-hour Reception/Background Music event: $1,400
50-minute private chamber music concert: $1,000
The above listed rates includes a student musician honorarium, coaching fee and on-site chaperone fee of a CMC professional staff or musician.
