Dancing Hand: How Teresa Carreño Played the Piano for President Lincoln
Join us for a special Classical Kids Concert to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! The audience will sing along to beloved songs from South and Central America while learning interesting facts about one of the countries, Venezuela. Then, sit back and enjoy a special musical adaptation of “Dancing Hands.” In soaring words, stunning illustrations, and beautiful music, Margarita Engle and Rafael López tell the story of Teresa Carreño, a child prodigy from Venezuela who played piano for Abraham Lincoln.

Sharing the Magic of Live Music with Young Audiences
Chamber Music Charleston (CMC) is pleased to announce the launch of the Classical Kids Concert Series at Sottile Theatre. Beginning in September 2022, CMC will present three performances of classical music combined with storytelling and stunning visual imagery tailored specifically for young audiences (recommended for ages 10 and under). Each 45-minute program includes an educational introduction to the musicians and their instruments, songs with audience participation, and beloved stories set to music.
