CMC TWO EDUCATION FELLOWS

2024 CMC TWO EDUCATION FELLOWS INVITATION TO APPLY

Deadline: December 8, 2023

Chamber Music Charleston (CMC) is now accepting applications for the CMC TWO Education Fellows program, a 4-month program for four accomplished, disciplined, motivated, and responsible High School Strings Seniors at the Charleston County School of the Arts (SOA) who successfully completed the Fall Senior Thesis Semester Class.

The 2024 CMC TWO Education Fellows will be selected from the Senior Thesis students who apply for the program.  The goal is to select four students to make up either one string quartet.  The fellows will be provided with repertoire to prepare (see repertoire list below) and be required to attend all schedule performances and coachings, in addition to rehearsing at least once a week on their own between coachings.  Coachings will take place at SOA during B days between 8:30-10am.  CMC will provide the coaching to ensure the students successfully prepare for the performances for elementary school audiences.  Coachings will be provided by CMC professional musicians (to ensure music is performed to a high standard) and the director of Chamber Music Charleston (to oversee the overall quality of the program).

Musicians must prepare their individual parts in advance of all coachings and rehearsals.

Fellows who successfully complete the program and perform all of the scheduled concerts will receive a $1,000 scholarship from Chamber Music Charleston to be used for their 2024-2025 college year.

This program is a part of Chamber Music Charleston’s Youth Chamber Music Initiative.

Depending on the number of applicants, an audition may be required to select the participating students.  More information will be provided after the December 8 deadline.
