CMC TWO EDUCATION FELLOWS

2023 CMC TWO EDUCATION FELLOWS INVITATION TO APPLY

Deadline: December 5, 2022

Chamber Music Charleston (CMC) is now accepting applications for the CMC TWO Education Fellows program, a 5-month program for up to four accomplished, disciplined, motivated, and responsible High School Strings Seniors at the Charleston County School of the Arts (SOA) who successfully completed the Fall Senior Thesis Semester Class.

The 2023 CMC TWO Education Fellows will be selected from the Senior Thesis students who apply for the program.  The goal is to select four or eight students to make up either one or two string quartets.  The fellows will be provided with repertoire to prepare (see list of tentative repertoire below) and be required to rehearse at least once a week on their own and attend all scheduled coachings (on  average 2-4 coachings per month).  Coachings will take place at SOA during B days between 8:30-10am.  CMC will provide the coaching to ensure the students successfully prepare for the performances for elementary school audiences.  Coachings will be provided by CMC professional musicians (to ensure music is performed to a high standard), actors (to ensure that the students can effectively speak to the audiences), and the director of Chamber Music Charleston.

(to oversee the overall quality of the program).

Musicians must prepare their individual parts in advance of all coachings and rehearsals.

Fellows who successfully complete the program and perform all of the schedule concerts will receive a $1,000 scholarship from Chamber Music Charleston to be used for their 2023-2024 college year.

This program is a part of Chamber Music Charleston’s Youth Chamber Music Initiative.

Auditions will take place on Thursday, December 8, 2022 during 1st block.  The audition will include performing a portion of your Senior Thesis piece (without piano accompaniment) in addition to speaking briefly about one interesting aspect of/insight towards the piece you are about to play.
